Bafana Bafana taking Bright Stars clash to Cape Town

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced that Bafana Bafana will conclude their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign at the Cape Town Stadium. Hugo Broos’ side will play their final two matches against Uganda and South Sudan later this month and they still have a chance to finish at the top of Group K. South Africa routed Congo 5-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on October 11 and were held to a 1-1 draw in the away leg four days later, taking them within two points of the Cranes in second place. The 2023 AFCON semi-finalists could claim top spot if they beat Uganda in Kampala on November 15 which would all but guarantee them a place at the next edition in Morocco next year. SAFA president Danny Jordaan confirmed on Friday that Bafana Bafana will play their final qualifier against the Bright Stars in the Mother City four days later. Cape Town last hosted the national team in 2015 when goals from Thamsanqa Gabuza and Ayanda Patosi secured a 2-1 win over Angola in the friendly. “Yes, the game will be played at Cape Town Stadium, and we appeal to the fans to come out in numbers to provide a festive atmosphere for the team in this final Group K match,” Jordaan said in a statement on SAFA’s official website. “A good crowd would be the perfect reward for a team that has withstood a tough qualifying campaign plagued by injuries to several key payers. It would also be the perfect tribute to those players.”
